Jonathan Mulder helps Telstar with a late goal against De Graafschap

After a hectic final phase, Telstar defeated De Graafschap. Jonathan Mulder scored the only goal in the last part: 0-1. Due to misbehavior of the spectators, the game was stopped for ten minutes, but the victory of the White Lions was no longer in danger.

The competition was dominated by Simon Kistemaker. The deceased football coach worked at De Graafschap and Telstar. As a tribute, his name was chanted beforehand by the supporters at De Vijverberg. In the mind of Kistemaker, the White Lions started the game aggressively. Özgür Aktaş headed just wide from close range and moments later Anwar Bensabouh curled the ball over the crossbar.

In the counter-punch, Ronald Koeman Jr., who returned after a three-game suspension, stopped a shot from Mees Kaandorp. David Min shot over before the break. Telstar got enough chances in the first half, without taking advantage.

Telstar was released early in the second half. Camiel Neghli shot full on the post next to Koeman from a promising position. It took a long time after this before great opportunities were created again. For example, Aktas headed just over the goal in the final phase. It was substitute Jonathan Mulder, who still made 0-1. A cross from Yahya Boussakou was headed away and Mulder hit the target with impeccable hardness.

The match was then halted after De Graafschap spectators threw objects onto the field. For example, goalkeeper Koeman was fired upon. After a delay of about ten minutes, the game resumed. In a hectic final phase, Koeman eventually kept Telstar going.

Because of the three-pointer, Telstar rises again to ninth place in the first division. Jong FC Utrecht is the next opponent on February 13.

Setup Telstar: Koeman; Kruiver (Mulder/73); Apau, Aktas, Old Kotte, Peat Mower (Boussakou/65); Bensabouh (Soares/90), Overtoom; Min (Seedorf/65), Plet, Giousis (Najah/90)
