Bayern only got one point in Freiburg. The focus is on coach Thomas Tuchel. Jonas Hummels found critical words for this.
In his role as an expert at DAZN, Jonas Hummels dealt against Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel. The brother of BVB star Mats Hummels said after the German record champions’ 2-2 draw in Freiburg on Friday: “Since it was announced that he was quitting, he has appeared defiant on the sidelines. He was the only one of the coaching staff who wasn’t happy about the goal . Everyone jumped up, he stayed seated – it was the same last week. As a player you notice that.”
The question about the remaining playing time
Tuchel was informed last week that his time at FC Bayern would end in the summer. The coach then announced that he would be “a little more ruthless” towards the players when choosing the personnel for the line-up. A difficult situation, says Jonas Hummels: “I find him partly cynical and sarcastic. Which I find funny because it’s my kind of humor. But as a player I don’t know. Not as an official anyway.”
And further: “If I were really, really angry, I would say he seemed a bit haphazard,” said Hummels to DAZN presenter Alex Schlüter after the trainer interview. For him it is incomprehensible “why this can happen again and again. At an away game in Freiburg, they are coming from a phase where they have little success.”
He therefore made up his mind: “It was definitely the right decision to part ways at the end of the season.” The only question that remains open is what to do between now and the end of the season.
Tuchel had previously commented on the game himself and questioned his team’s start. “It wasn’t a good first half hour. We rightly fell behind, then played a good second half and lost our reward in the end.” In his opinion, it wasn’t a matter of will. “It was undisciplined in the positions, it was partly hara-kiri.”
Things continue straight away for the people of Munich on Tuesday. In the Champions League they need a win in the second leg of the round of 16 against Lazio to avoid being eliminated from the competition early.
