On Tuesday, the Jokers were granted a place in the series against Mestis, but one strict condition was set for their return.

– The Jääkiekkoliitto requires that the company carry out the ownership arrangements and the capitalization as described in its application by March 31, 2023, the Jääkiekkoliitto said in its press release.

CEO of Jokerie’s background company Jarmo Koskinen is happy, even though the series place was granted conditionally.

– We think it’s a really good and expected decision. Very good, Koskinen mumbles.

In Jokerie’s license application, the issues are presented in exactly the way that the capital ownership will be defined in March.

– In my opinion, it reflects the normal licensing procedure, Koskinen states.

Next, Jokerit will make a directed share issue to the owners.

– It has not been possible to arrange it in this hassle.

The Mestis license application must be submitted by the end of March. Before that, the entity applying for a license must have a series seat granted by the federal government.

Joker’s background company has a meeting with the new owners at the beginning of next week.

There is enough work

When applying for a license, you have to take many things into account, from competition rules to match events. After getting a place in the series, the Jokerit would play at two different addresses: the Helsinki ice hall, or “Nordis”, and Kerava.

There are long working days ahead.

– Yes, there is a lot to do there. Details are being discussed with the union. For example, we look at Kerava’s hall to see how everything works there. Of course, the association and we have already been there, says Koskinen.

– I don’t think there is much left in the affairs of the company and the organization. They are now trampled.

Koskinen does not agree to reveal Jokeri’s preliminary player budget, which is recorded in the license application. However, it’s not about any lumpy sums.

– There is really no intention to play with money, the CEO points out.

– We emphasize our own junior production. The U20 team has a lot of guys who can play at a high Mestis level. Then we go to get confirmations from joker-spirited players who play elsewhere.
