Joker Ache meets: Greuther Fürth wins against 1. FC Nürnberg

Hrgota awarded penalty

Ragnar Ache gave SpVgg Greuther Fürth a celebrated home win in the 270th Frankenderby against 1. FC Nürnberg with his joker goal in injury time. In a passionately fought neighborhood duel with a lot of fighting and limited playful class, the attacker scored 1-0 (1-0) in the margin against FCN goalkeeper Peter Vindahl on Saturday evening. Vindahl saved Ache’s first shot.

In front of 16,626 spectators at the Fürther Ronhof, the Fürth team successfully took revenge for the 0:2 in the first half of the season. With 23 points, they also pulled away from the “Club”, who are in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga with 19 points. The guests from Nuremberg first cheered on Saturday evening: But Florian Flick’s goal was disallowed after video evidence because the Schalke loan player was offside (64th). Fürth’s captain Branimir Hrgota put a penalty on the bar in the first half (12′).

After both fan groups had ignited plenty of pyrotechnics before kick-off (and also later), things got fiery on the pitch in terms of commitment and physicality. The esprit of football often fell by the wayside. In the “Club” in particular, the usual playful poverty prevailed offensively. The surprising starting eleven debut of 19-year-old attacker Jermain Nischalke didn’t do much in the league’s weakest attack with 16 goals this season. With the Fürth team, the pressing was always successful. The hosts also created several good chances. Hrgota missed the biggest one when he fired powerfully from the point at the crossbar. Nürnberg’s defender Florian Hübner fouled Dickson Abiama in the penalty area, after video evidence there was a legitimate penalty. Hrgota was later denied by good FCN goalkeeper Peter Vindahl, who was able to parry the shot into the near post (36′).

The 0:0 initially turned out to be lucky for Nuremberg after the break. Goalkeeper Vindahl prevented the long overdue deficit with a reflex when defender Damian Michalski headed the ball (53rd). A shot by Lino Tempelmann in the arms of Fürth goalkeeper Andreas Linde in the 61st minute seemed to inspire the “club”. After Flick’s offside goal, Enrico Valentini missed the opening goal in a volley. Fürth’s Andreas Linde saved (81′). Then came Ache and decided the derby for Fürth.
