Zoetermeer is looking for tile wipers† It means that you exchange one or more tiles from your garden for greenery. The main prize is a green city that is attractive to the birds, flowers, bees and us. The extra prize is the Golden Tile. Will you join us?

The Dutch National Championships Tegelwippen has started. From March 21 to October 31, all municipalities in the Netherlands can compete for ‘the Golden Tile’. The municipality that exchanges the most tiles for greenery per inhabitant wins. Of course Zoetermeer is participating. So remove those tiles from your (front) garden and help Zoetermeer get an even greener look (and the prize).
Contribute a tile
The ranking is divided into small, medium and large municipalities. Of the largest, Anrhem, Den Bosch and Leeuwarden are in the top 3. Of course one of those cities must be rejected by Zoetermeer. So drum up your neighbors and go tile-seeing.
Why is tile rocking important?
If you remove the tiles from your garden, there will be more room for greenery. Lots of greenery and fewer tiles help to keep your garden and the city cooler. This way you can enjoy a cooler garden during the summer. Rainwater also drains better and your garden is visited by birds again. Good for you and for the city.
Don’t have a garden? You can apply to the municipality to see if you can build a facade garden in front of your house. Then you get a number of cons from the sidewalk against the facade of your house and voila, your facade garden is born. So please apply first, that’s possible here†
