Expressive and energetic – the Berlin zero-waste label Impari inspired at the Fashion Week.
A video in the streets of Berlin sets the mood for the show. A model moves choreographically through the rows of seats made of old beverage crates in the walls of the museum ‘Freiraum in der Box’. The second model enters the room with a huge bag full of plastic waste in tow and takes a seat between the visitors to follow the rest of the show, which really starts from there with atmospheric, rhythmic music.
Matching the music, the looks also radiate joie de vivre and a good mood. An inexhaustible range of colors meets strong prints. The Berlin brand is known for its self-created prints and diverse material combinations and also showed this strength in the SS24 collection. Diversity is not only the right keyword for the designs, but is also reflected in the model cast.
The prints on recycled PET mesh made from plastic bottles featured swirls, waves and chains. A lot of bare skin was visible through the transparent material – cropped tops and leg slits on dresses and skirts also allowed a glimpse of skin.
The designs were given that certain extra with ruffles on the sleeves, hems and necklines. The prints and materials were combined in a patchwork style, which brought the mix of patterns to a climax. Flowing trousers with a scale-like pattern met a fitted top with a print of waves and swirls.
A special eye-catcher was a woven bra made from textile waste, whose adjustable straps wrapped stylishly around the body. The model carried it with a matching bag, also woven, and a fringed mini skirt.
Each of the label’s garments is made from recycled materials or deadstock and is made to order – leftovers are used in subsequent collections. Designer Jana Heinemann’s brand also supports a social project in Ghana. Impari shows that environmentally friendly fashion can be modern, fun-loving and social.
