President Vladimir Putin assured that there was no question of the occupation of the country. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that the strikes of the Russian armed forces are carried out only on the objects of the military infrastructure and aviation of Ukraine, and nothing threatens the civilian population.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, after the start of the Russian special operation, declared martial law in the country, general mobilization and severed diplomatic relations with Moscow. However, the Ukrainian leader stressed that he was ready for negotiations to end hostilities.

UK authorities declaredthat they condemn the “terrible, unprovoked attack on the people of Ukraine.” After the start of the operation, London imposed economic sanctions on Russia. They affected VTB, Aeroflot, Rostec, the United Aircraft Corporation, the United Shipbuilding Corporation, Uralvagonzavod and the Tactical Missiles Corporation. In total, according to Johnson, the new restrictions affected 100 individuals and companies from Russia. Rosaviatsia responded by banning British aircraft from flying over Russian territory.
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that London intends to achieve the destruction of the Russian economy because of the military operation in Ukraine. She also called Russia “a pariah on the world stage” and warned that London would continue to support Kiev economically, politically and defensively and would seek the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
