Johnny Depp and Amber Heard don’t settle down. Or at least don’t want to give in legally. As it became known on Thursday (November 3rd), Johnny Depp has filed an appeal with the competent court in the US state of Virginia. This is reported by TMZ.

Although the actor was right in most cases, the jury in the defamation trial also awarded his ex-wife Amber Heard $2 million in damages.

Johnny Depp now wants to challenge this – and could, at least theoretically, cause the process to be reopened. Because Heard also appealed immediately after the verdict. Depp’s lawyers then appealed, demanding that Heard’s motion be denied.

Was a jury picked wrong?

The actress’ lawyers claimed there was no evidence she slandered Depp. A juror was also said not to have been properly tested and should not have been part of the jury.

Heard’s attorneys are seeking a new trial, saying they are basing it on a dossier of new facts, primarily relating to the alleged disqualified juror. Depp’s attorneys countered that both her client and Amber Heard and her team of attorneys had early insight into the jury’s selection process. Two alternate jurors would theoretically have stood by.

The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star’s lawyers argued that the discredited juror was scrutinized in the same way as any other juror.

“While she is understandably dissatisfied with the outcome of the trial, Ms. Heard has found no legitimate basis to overturn the jury’s decision in any respect,” reads E! News” in a letter from Depp’s lawyers.

How things will continue in the Depp/Heard case remains open for the time being.
