Johnny Depp Makes Official Comeback at Cannes Film Festival | Movie

MovieJohnny Depp (59) will make his appearance in Cannes in May. ‘Jeanne du Barry’, in which the actor plays the role of King Louis XV, opens the prestigious film festival in the glamorous French seaside resort. That writes ‘The Hollywood Reporter’. It is the first time that Depp has graced the silver screen again since the much-discussed lawsuit with his ex Amber Heard (36).

‘Jeanne du Barry’ opens the Cannes Film Festival on May 16. The historical drama will also be shown in French cinemas from that date. At the center is Jeanne Vaubernier, a young woman who dreams of climbing higher on the social ladder. The lady, played by the French Maïwenn (46), who also directs the film, catches the eye of King Louis XV (Depp). The two fall in love, with all the consequences that entails.

Depp’s passage on the Croisette in mid-May will probably raise quite a few eyebrows. ‘Jeanne du Barry’ is the first picture with the actor in the lead role since the legal battle he fought with ex Amber Heard last year. She accused the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star of domestic violence. Although Depp was then vindicated, his image was irrevocably damaged. Nevertheless, his fans remained behind him all along, and the actor seems to be making a comeback.

‘Jeanne du Barry’ is the first French-language film ever in which Depp can be seen. The actor reportedly charged at least $ 20 million (19.7 million euros) for the role.
