Johnny de Mol could use a boost now that his TV career is in a semi-voluntary impasse. Unfortunately, at his TV farewell yesterday, he received a considerable blow from John de Bever.
After a painful period full of image damage due to the violent complaint of his ex-girlfriend Shima Kaes, Johnny de Mol is pretty much through it. His name may have been cleared, but he has still chosen not to do anything on television for the time being. He also voluntarily abandons his talk show HLF8.
Johnny disappoints
It seems that Restaurant Misverstand, which he recorded last summer, is the only one Johnny will appear on this season. Yesterday was the season finale of that program. 583 thousand people (12 percent market share) watched the final episode on SBS 6.
In absolute figures that is not even that bad, but in the important commercial target group Johnny is quite disappointing with only 7.6 percent market share, says former SBS 6 boss Tina Nijkamp. She points out that even B-singer John de Bever’s reality soap scores even better in this target group, namely 8.4 percent. Quite a humiliation.
Beavers fail
What does Tina write about it? “With the end of Restaurant Misverstand, Johnny de Mol scored 583,000 viewers and only 7.6 in the target group aged 20 to 54. And was overtaken by folk singer John de Bever. The Beavers scored a moderate 313 thousand viewers, but 8.4 percent in 20 to 54 years.”
She continues: “Not fantastic and De Bevers’ season is actually quite disappointing from a viewpoint perspective. Including delayed viewing, the episode only reached 406 thousand last week. But it is still a lot better than that other folk singer with a program: Mart op de Piste scored a paltry 135 thousand. What a big flop.”
Picture Perfect
The big winner on prime time yesterday was Het Perfecte Plaatje with 1.2 million viewers (24 percent) on RTL 4, followed by Van Onschatbare Waarde with 1.1 million viewers (22 percent) and Nederland Onder Water with 1 million viewers (21 percent) on NPO 1.
The other most viewed titles were SBS 6’s Today Inside (880 thousand and 18 percent) and the aforementioned Restaurant Misverstand.
