Is it over and over for John van den Heuvel and his TV show Kidnapped? The viewing figures have been disappointing for a while and yesterday, partly due to football, he even fell out of the viewing figure top 25.
The Spakenburg – PSV football match was the big winner on prime time last night with more than 1.4 million viewers (28 percent market share), spread over ESPN and FOX. The competition therefore had a difficult time, although NPO 1’s Keuringsdienst van Waarde (860 thousand) and SBS 6’s Today Inside (833 thousand) still held their own.
By lower limit
However, RTL 4 completely fell through the ice. The already weakened kidnapping went completely through the lower limit and with 422 thousand viewers (8 percent) did not even appear in the top 25 viewing figure. Should John van den Heuvel worry about the future of his television child?
Viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp is concerned. “A terrible viewing figure morning for John van den Heuvel. I had to watch it three times myself, but unfortunately it’s true: his Kidnapped is NOT in the top 25 and only has 422 thousand viewers,” she writes on her widely read among TV makers analysis channel.
Kees humiliates John
How bad is John’s score? Very bad, writes Tina. “That is the lowest figure for RTL 4 on primetime since the fifth episode of Opvoeden Doe Je Zo with Robert ten Brink last September (352 thousand viewers). Ouch. Even worse: RTL 4 has fewer viewers than RTL 5.”
Kees van der Spek managed to captivate 516,000 viewers (10 percent) on its smaller sister channel with Scammers Addressed. “That was probably not the intention of RTL. But isn’t this also a bit awkwardly programmed? These programs are in the same genre (injustice TV) and so the viewer had to choose.”
New chances
Tina sympathizes with the RTL 4 channel management. “I don’t think it’s a very cheerful morning at RTL. New opportunities for RTL 4 next week with The Interior Project VIPS. In any case, that is very different.”
Incidentally, Beau did well on RTL 4 late in the evening with a score of 670 thousand viewers (18 percent).
