John van den Heuvel is quite disappointing as Carlo Boszhard’s successor on RTL 4’s Tuesday evening.
The season of Married At First Sight ended last week, which means that from this week something else can be seen on RTL 4’s Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Yesterday that was the somewhat depressing program Kidnapped by John van den Heuvel. The result? Get some dropouts.
John disappoints
Where Married At First Sight scored 962,000 viewers last Tuesday, kidnapped now has to settle for 653,000 viewers (12 percent market share), which is a pretty sharp drop.
Viewing figure prophet Tina Nijkamp on her analysis channel: “The management of RTL 4 starts this election day with viewing figures concerns. After a mediocre Sunday and Monday, the follow-up to Married At First Sight on Tuesday, Kidnapped, has now also been viewed very moderately. Oh dear. Serious setback for John van den Heuvel as well.”
Small dip
John is also not doing very well in the commercial target group. He achieved a 14 percent market share in the commercial target group aged 20 to 54. Immediately before, GTST recorded almost 19 percent and immediately after, Jinek reached 17 percent. Tina speaks of Help My Man Is Handyman-like numbers for Johns Kidnapped.
The big winner on prime time was the Nederland Kiest election debate with 1.3 million viewers (25 percent) on NPO 1. Furthermore, the SBS 6 hit Today Inside in particular captivated many viewers, namely 950 thousand (19 percent).
HLF8 scores
It is striking that HLF8 suddenly scores slightly better. The program, of which the early end was announced last week, attracted 430 thousand viewers (9 percent) yesterday.
Tina: “If a program team removes a program from the schedule, they often say to each other: ‘We bet it will score now?’, because one of the special TV laws is that that sometimes happens. Once removed from the schedule and then suddenly it starts scoring, strangely enough. This also seems to be true for HLF8.”
