John Heitinga is responsible for Ajax against Excelsior Rotterdam on Sunday. He replaces the fired Alfred Schreuder on the bench. His place with the Amsterdam reserves is taken over by Michel Kreek. Heitinga already led the run-out training on Friday.
After the disappointing results, Schreuder was fired last night. Just before that, Ajax had played 1-1 against FC Volendam. It was already the seventh league match in a row that did not yield a win. For the club management, that was the proverbial straw.
The kick-off on Sunday is 2.30 pm in Rotterdam. Ajax is currently fifth in the ranking with seven points less than Feyenoord.
