‘John de Mol raises his middle finger to society’

John de Mol is raising his middle finger to society by keeping Peter Gillis on the air, according to the infamous AD tiger shark Angela de Jong. “I was really in complete shock.”

Talpa’s Peter Gillis policy has suddenly changed again. While the media company promised earlier this summer not to broadcast its soap Massa is Kassa again until the judge has ruled in the case about the abuse of his ex-girlfriend Nicol Kremers, John de Mol and his team now say that they will only stop upon conviction.

Fat middle finger

Angela de Jong thinks this turnaround is so Talpa, she says in the AD Media podcast. “Yes, that is really unbelievable. I was also completely in shock.”

Her right-hand man Marcus den Blanken: “At Talpa they do not have a moral compass, but an immoral compass.”

Angela: “Well, I’ve said that a hundred times and I find it really, really unacceptable that they keep giving that man a platform. Real. That’s a big middle finger to the entire society at the moment.”

Huge smell

According to Angela, Talpa makes a negative contribution to our society. “From the very beginning they knew there was a huge smell in that man. This has only increased in recent years. Just about every month a new suspicion arises.”

She continues: “You can say very politely: someone is only convicted when the judge has ruled on it. But you can also wonder whether you want to turn someone who is so under fire into a kind of folk hero and present people with a kind of fairy tale with him in the leading role, because that is what happens.”

Glorification

In the end, John is just glorifying Peter Gillis, Angela thinks. “We see him parading around his park, we see him taking a picture with a customer. And you don’t even see what’s really going on in his life. It’s just some kind of weird twisted fairy tale that you’re watching.”

Marcus thinks it’s stupid. “Isn’t it just causing damage to SBS? You’re not comfortable presenting if he has just sat in front of you, are you?” he says to podcast colleague Manuel Venderbos, who is also talking to Shownieuws. “Fortunately, Today Inside is still around for a while. But yeah, it’s weird.”

Shameless

It remains mysterious, says Angela. “It’s just really shameless. Anyway, they do it themselves and they want to destroy their own image, so be it.”

It is striking that Manuel, as an SBS face, does not dare to touch this issue. According to Angela, he only talks positively about Talpa. “You are also expected to do that for your salary.”
