John de Bever just managed to reach the top 25 viewership with his soap series De Bevers on the relatively small RTL 5. According to the singer, media billionaire John de Mol has already taken a look.
With one episode to go, De Bevers can be called a modest success. The fifth episode yesterday attracted 365 thousand viewers (8% market share), just enough for a place in the top 25 viewing figures. RTL has already announced a second season, so John de Bever and his partner are delighted.
John de Mol is also watching
What John is also happy with is a compliment from media billionaire John de Mol. He also looked. “John de Mol sent another message. ‘Top programme,’ he wrote, the same evening. Did he want to steal me away? I don’t do anything under a million euros, haha,” jokes the singer in the Weekend.
John owes his success to the hit You Can’t Get That Laugh Off My Face. “Then it happened. I was lucky with that. Then I was in Expedition Robinson and now there’s the soap, who would have thought? I think people want to see real TV.”
NPO 1 takes gold
NPO 1 was the big winner on prime time yesterday with 934 thousand viewers (20%) for the series Ten Least Durable Until. The Great British Bake Off subsequently attracted 745 thousand viewers (17%).
Furthermore, Mr. Frank Visser Doet Uitspraak is most popular with 641 thousand viewers (14%) on SBS 6. NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur also makes the top fifteen with 614 thousand viewers (14%).
Beau keeps failing
Beau van Erven Dorens continues to fail with his adventure show Race for the Rings. Also this week he did not score enough viewers for a place in the top fifteen. This time 484 thousand people (11%) watched it.
Beau was almost overtaken by 112 Today, which scored 480 thousand viewers (11%) on RTL 5. “I think that is the most unexpected viewing figure hit of the past TV season,” says viewing figures expert Tina Nijkamp.
Viewing figures
Other programs that did not make the top 15 include KVW (683 thousand), Shownieuws (513 thousand), Je Huis Op Orde (424 thousand) and Shownieuws Zomeredition (304 thousand).
