John de Mol (68) thinks Joe Biden (81) is now really getting too old to run for another four years as president of the United States. “Why is there no new talent on it?”
We know little about John de Mol’s political beliefs, but he is convinced that US president Joe Biden is really getting too old for the position of US president. The media billionaire revealed this during an intimate chat with Raymond Mens, the America connoisseur of Today Inside.
Once with John
Raymond has spoken to John once, he reveals in the podcast The Communicados. “Yes, once. He was a few months ago at Today Inside, behind the scenes, together with the director, Marco Louwerens. The broadcast was over and then you always walk back to one of those rooms where the make-up is.”
Then you will be handed a warm towel, says Raymond. “To take off that awful make-up that always gets on your white collars. And there he was then. So I spoke to him briefly. I think he was there then because he and also the director were negotiating the contract with those guys.”
‘Nice to meet you’
How did Raymond think that? “Well nice, because it was very unexpected, because I didn’t know he was there. So I walked in there and I was looking for such a hot towel. And then all of a sudden he said, “Hey Raymond, nice to meet you. I’m John.’ I thought: yes, I know that, you also know that I am Raymond and I find that strange.”
He continues: “But he sat in that room on a kind of TV together with Marco Louwerens watching that broadcast. So those are the things that I find fun to experience. And we also had a very relaxed conversation about America.”
Biden too old
Then what did John say? “John de Mol also thought that Biden was very old. I said: ‘No, that’s right, the years are starting to count, it’s all not fresh.’ He was surprised, and I understand that, that there is no talent ready in that party to take over from Biden. Well, that surprises me too and I’ve briefly explained why I think it is.”
Podcast host Victor Vlam: “Do you have the impression that John de Mol has a preference for one of the two candidates?”
Raymond: “No, I didn’t. No, I hadn’t at all. We haven’t really talked about it either, but I don’t think so. I think it just surprises him: how is it possible that there isn’t someone else out there who can take over from Biden?”
