John Cale announces first album in ten years and releases new single

The Velvet Underground co-founder John Cale announces his new album, Mercy, out January 20, 2023. In the course of this, Cale also released the single “Story of Blood” (feat. Weyes Blood) including a music video.

The new record “Mercy”

The work will consist of twelve tracks. According to the press release, the content should range between “dark night of the soul electronics, vulnerable love songs and hopeful thoughts for the future”. Topics such as Brexit, Covid, climate change and human rights are to be dealt with. “Mercy” was recorded with members of Animal Collective and Actress, as well as Sylvan Esso, Laurel Halo and Tei Shi.

Cale’s latest release “Night Crawling”

With “Night Crawling”, the musician released a single in August 2022, in which he thematically deals with lessons that life has taught him so far. Later this year, John Cale will be touring Scotland and England.
