Norwegian Johannes Kläbo skied to win the Stadiumprint at the Olympic Stadium on Thursday.

Kläbo’s last days have been busy as the ski star didn’t fly from Beijing to Trondheim, Norway until Monday. From there, the road went to Helsinki a few days after Huil.

Kläbo made the trip in a wide style with a private plane.

– It was the only chance to come here. I traveled from the Olympics to Trondheim. This has been hectic, he explains.

The Norwegian star acknowledged 13,000 euros in the evening of Helsinki. He received 5,000 euros for coming to the line alone.

The prize of 8,000 euros was won for winning the men’s sprint.

The money does not cost a private car, but Kläbo was pleased with his trip.

– This was a positive surprise. It was great to ski here and see people in the auditorium. Great skiing. I hope these will continue to be the case.

Thursday’s biggest topic was Russia’s attack on Ukraine instead of a sprint. Kläbo informed VG that he does not intend to participate in the last World Cup of the season in Russia.

Tyumen should compete on 18-20. March.

– I’m not going there. I decided on it today. The situation is difficult. As I said, I’m not going there. Now is not the time to compete in Russia. This is a difficult day for the whole world.

It is not yet known whether the World Cup will be postponed or canceled.

Will the Norwegian national team compete in Tyumen if the competitions remain on the calendar?

– I doubt it, Kläbo says.

What does the FIS do?

Competition Manager of the International Ski Federation Pierre Mignerey did not see any reason last week to postpone the races.

– The political situation is not our field. We organize sporting events. We see no reason to consider the event from a political point of view. So there are no problems with Tyumen, Mignerey said.

However, the situation changed significantly after Russia invaded Ukraine. The FIS will hold a meeting on Tyumen on Friday.

The ski season continues over the weekend in Lahti.
