Johannes Kläbo has been beaten!

Reijo Jylhä wrapped up the talk of the men’s 20 km traditional mass start of the Skiing World Cup, Finnish time, late on Sunday evening.

Late on Sunday evening Finland time, the result of the 20 km traditional mass start of the Canmore World Cup men’s skiing is the number one sporting topic Johannes Kläbon extraordinary loss.

The Norwegian reached the downhill leading to the finish straight from the peis, moved to the top on the finish straight, but succumbed to his countryman in a tie-breaking battle in the last tens of meters For Pål Golberg.

– Golberg clearly beat Kläbo in the final stretch. Kläbo’s flat push didn’t look quite as sharp as usual. Iltalehti’s skiing expert wonders if the trip would have eaten away at the man Reijo Jylhä.

Violent throwing

Pål Golberg has won three World Cup races this season. Jussi Saarinen

Golberg, 33, did the same trick to Kläbo last season in the 50 km traditional mass start of the World Championships in Planica: he nailed the rocket man at the finish line.

– Golberg once came to the top of the world as a sprint skier, but he has developed into an excellent general skier. When you get older, sprinting tends to slow down. He sometimes has trouble getting from the sprint qualifying to the top 30 heats.

The win was Golberg’s third and fourth overall place in the World Cup this season. The man’s score has fluctuated enormously during these snows. For example, he went to the Tour de Ski Harald Amundsen as early favorite, but softened to 11th place.

– Bad performances have been really bad this season. It would seem that during the new fluoride rules, ski choices have not hit the button, Jylhä analysed.

– The situation for Norwegians is challenging anyway. You can’t stand being in bad shape if you want to ski the World Cup. It is one factor that can affect the results, that you have to defend your position in the national team so tightly all the time, the expert continues.

Voorinen shuddered

Lauri Vuorinen is in the best shape of his career for normal trips. Jussi Saarinen

Lauri Vuorinen29, was the best Finn in Sunday’s competition in 18th place. It was already the fifth time in these snows that the native of Varsinais-Suomen reached the so-called old point ranking in the top 30 on normal trips.

Before this season, the man had reached the top 30 only twice in his entire career on normal trips.

– The biggest success factors are a successful training season and good health. The age is also starting to be such that it is years behind and is the place for confiscation of results.

Vuorinen lost a few kilos in the summer.

– That is also important. Sami Jauhojärvi did a similar trick in the last years of his career – that also had a positive effect on the results, says Jylhä, who once worked as Jauhojärvi’s personal trainer.

Perttu Hyvärinen interrupted

Sick at the end of January Remi Lindholm collapsed again. On Sunday, he was in 41st place and missed the lead by more than three minutes. A similar stomach-churning was seen on Friday, when the Finn also finished in 41st place (+2.29.3) in the 15-kilometer free mass start.

In terms of normal trips, 2/3 of the starts of the North American tour are behind us, so it can be said that it was foolish of Lindholm to go to the gig behind the rapako.

– That’s how it looks. The situation will not improve by competing.

Sunday’s second Finnish loser was Perttu Hyvärinenwho stopped about halfway through.

– There may be under-recovery from Friday’s race. Another option is that the tool didn’t work. Suddenly it happens that when it gets too tight in that terrain, a pick-up truck comes.

Finland’s head coach Teemu Pasanen said after the competition in an interview with Viaplay that Hyvärinen suffered from skiing accidents.

– Probably a ski that is too low, which has stuck to the slope, Jylhä estimates.

Hyvärinen won the traditional style 10 km time trial race at the Tour de Ski in Toblach at the turn of the year.
