Vocalist Johanna Pakonen, 46, says in a recent interview with the Society that although the pandemic brought a boom in the economy, the global situation eventually provided an opportunity for a new profession as well. The singer lost her expected twin boys in December 2010 and at that time she was dealing with her grief over gardening.
– The garden work was therapy, because I was able to be at peace with my own thoughts.
At that time, Pakonen realized that he wanted to learn more about the field, and the enthusiasm was no longer limited to hobbies. He started his undergraduate degree in gardening in the autumn of 2011 in Kokemäki, but his studies were soon interrupted when Pakonen started expecting his 10-year-old daughter. Nelli.
Since then, the dream of a garden sector has been refined. After the gig calendar was empty in the spring of 2020 and after the initial predicament, Pakonen’s dream of a career as a yard designer became clearer. Pakonen says in the Society that he thinks that he will graduate at the turn of the year and that further training as a landscape architect is already in his mind.
– Why not develop myself in what interests and fascinates me? I have high expectations of what I can still do with all my knowledge and skill.
However, he is not leaving his profession as a musician altogether. Pakonen tells the club that he has a five-year plan for his career and that there are entries in the gig calendar for the next couple of years.
– I do creative work alongside another creative work. Not only as a designer, I hope that my strengths in the horticultural industry will also be highlighted in meeting, attentive to customers and the work environment.
