There has been a lot of fuss about the statements Johan Derksen made last night in Today Inside. He casually confessed, and quite laughably, that in the past he penetrated an unconscious woman with a large candle. He calls it a ‘youthful sin’, but the people at home find it downright sickening.

‘Johan is over and out’

Writer Susan Smit is stunned. “How can a man feel so safe to savor this story in public and once again humiliate the woman (who will recognize herself)? Strangely enough, that pisses me off the most,” she tweeted.

RTL 4 face Nynke de Jong: “A hug with a thousand arms for the woman to whom Johan Derksen did this at the time. How awful it must be to see people laugh at your pain on national TV.”

Media entrepreneur Erik de Vlieger thinks Johan’s career is over. “Johan Derksen is over and out.”

“Never on TV again!”

Eveline Bijlsma, the Paris correspondent of RTL Nieuws, wants Johan off the tube. “This is the end of Johan Derksen, I hope. I never have to see that man on TV again ”

Robert Jensen has his fill of Johan. He tweeted amid all the fuss: “Never forget that Derksen believed that unvaccinated people should be excluded from society. WORTHLESS guy!”

ChristenUnie party chairman Gert-Jan Segers: “I just forgot to laugh at Johan Derksen. Admits a form of rape on TV and condones it, because the 60s and 70s. Bizarre this…”

‘How is this possible?’

Journalist Ton F. van Dijk, who presented Shima Kaes’ complaint against Johnny de Mol, finds it astonishing that Talpa does not want to respond. “How is it possible that a broadcaster still allows this?”

Magazine maker Rens Muller thinks the men of VI have dug their own grave. “Like a night candle going out. Do you know this expression?”

Writer Roxane van Iperen also refers to the other men of VI. “This is not about Derksen. The man laughs and confesses an atrocity against a woman (true or false), assuming that colleagues, employer, friends and viewers will not punish him mercilessly for it. This is about the bystanders.”

Purveyor to the Court

Stefan de Vries strongly advises RTL not to merge with Talpa. He tweeted: “Today Inside is a production of Talpa Network, your main supplier for cross-border behaviour. Or as CEO John de Mol would say: ‘I hope it will not have a major impact on their lives for those people. That they can give it a place.’”

Lawyer Wil Eikelboom: “This is a crime and it is not time-barred.”

Volkskrant columnist Nadia Ezzeroili: “OM, do your job.”

According to lawyer Richard Korver, it is time-barred, because the regulations on cases that are time-barred were only changed in 2013. “Unfortunately, the adjustment of the statute of limitations has no retroactive effect.”

The news about Johan’s confession has meanwhile even made it to the NOS† Other media reporting about it include the AD and NU.nl
