The men of Today Inside have been laughing at Arie Boomsma for years. According to the men, the fitness guru is quite adaptable: then we see him again coming out of the waters of Abcoude like a kind of Loch Ness monster, then he jumps into an ice bath again and then he explains from minute to minute how his routines work. look. Exhausting.

“I don’t care!”

Arie now tells in an interview with 7DTV that all this criticism does nothing to him. “Of course some things do hurt, if something is just not quite right and they still run away with it. That can be annoying. But you have, for example, a certain former football program where I often meet up (Vandaag Inside, ed.), but that doesn’t bother me anymore.”

VI stars Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen get the creeps from Arie. Why does their criticism no longer affect him? “That doesn’t exist for me. You don’t notice that anywhere in your life,” he says.

Angry and bitter

Arie continues: “Very often I think when such older, bitter, angry people say something about me: OK, I have three fantastic children, a woman I love very much, a great company, I live in my dream house, I don’t have anyone close to me who is seriously ill at the moment, my parents are still alive. That way I put things into perspective a bit.”

So, Arie has to think about a lot of things to put criticism that does nothing for him into perspective. “Of course you quickly get the feeling that everyone is working on it, but that is never the case. I put that into perspective quite easily at the moment. That has also been different in years.”

rattling health

And what does Arie think of the criticism of his enormous ego? “That doesn’t bother me much. That always comes from people who know me or who are not so happy themselves or have an even bigger ego. There are a few people who often ehhh.. Johan Derksen, Marcel van Roosmalen, Youp van ‘t Hek and Henk Spaan. Those are actually the four.”

Those old men are just jealous, Arie thinks. “Look, there is, of course, a picture of somewhat older, angrier men with generally somewhat shaky health. Yes, then I also understand that when you see someone who really enjoys training and health and likes to share that… Yes, that is difficult. I don’t mind either.”

just an opinion

After a minute-long explanation, Arie emphasizes that nothing really matters to him. “I always think: should I ask you for advice? No? Then your opinion doesn’t really matter to me. Then it’s just an opinion like there are thousands on the socials.”
