Johan Derksen is not at all impressed by the song with which Stien den Hollander (S10) will represent our country in the Eurovision Song Contest. “She sings like your girl next door.”
The 21-year-old Stien is going to the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin with the song De Diepte he wrote himself. “Repulsive”, Johan Derksen calls it in VI Today. “Look, maybe they will win, because that boy with that terrible song behind that piano (Duncan Laurence, ed.) has also won.”
fairground attraction
The Eurovision Song Contest can no longer be saved, Johan believes. “We once sent real singers there and they don’t make it either. If Waylon and Anouk have been there and they don’t win, then you don’t really have to send Dutch people anymore.”
René van der Gijp: “You know, we just have to… It’s also a kind of fairground attraction there. Then we send that broccoli last year and we thought that was a good number too. That was a bitch, wasn’t it? That was bad.”
Girl next door
Johan: “This girl sings like your girl next door sings and then it’s a very sad story, but she doesn’t have any soul. It is not convincing and it is false.”
Leonie ter Braak: “I think it’s very real. I was just watching her presentation this afternoon. That girl has had huge depressions and this is also a bit of a helping hand to all those people…”
sales pitch
Johan: “This is a nice sales pitch behind it from the producers and stuff, but this doesn’t come across to me at all, because she really sings like every girl of that age does. She has nothing special at all.”
Leonie: “I think it is a bit inspired by Wende Snijders.”
Johan: “Well, I think that’s hysterics, that’s quite a horror! What a terrible woman that is.”
