Johan Derksen is right-wing, but which party does his daughter vote for?

Johan Derksen voted for Pieter Omtzigt’s right-wing conservative party in the elections, but he also often stands up for Geert Wilders. What about his daughter?

It is no secret that Today Inside has a right-wing conservative character. The men at the table are decidedly right-wing and Johan Derksen regularly takes a sharp swipe at everything that leans to the left. What about his own daughter? Is she also a right-wing conservative or not and does it crackle at their family gatherings?

Left-wing voter

According to Marieke Derksen, the daughter in question, she is actually left-progressive. “I don’t think I should start talking about my vote for Rob Jetten for the sake of the atmosphere during the Christmas dinner…,” she jokes on X.

Marieke is therefore a D66 voter. Has she recently converted or has she always voted left? “Last time I voted PvdA.”

So she does not share her father’s ideas. “I was raised by the man and have voted left all my life. Again this year.”

Land of Derksen

After Geert Wilders’ major election victory, comedian Raoul Heertje shouted in the talk show Khalid & Sophie that we are ‘the country of Johan Derksen’. Marieke: “Fell off my chair! Don’t let yourself be influenced by opinions. At least, that’s what I learned from him.”

She always stands up for her father. “Well, it’s not even coming up. He can do it himself just fine. But I find it rather condescending to portray voters as nitwits who follow every opinion.”

‘I miss Rutte’

Another big difference from her father is that Marieke is already looking up to a country without Mark Rutte as Prime Minister. “Not my party, not my political color. But as Prime Minister I already miss Mark Rutte. I fear we will miss the man very much…”

Has she already been disinherited by Johan? “I think everything goes to dogs. I can live with that.”
