‘Johan Derksen is a hero’

Gerard Joling thinks it is very bad that Johan Derksen was forced to stop his talk show Today Inside. “I think he’s a hero if you dare to name and say so much.”

There was a time when Gerard Joling himself unfiltered all his opinions out into the world, namely through his own website, but at a certain point he was strongly advised against that by his management. He is in the same corner as Johan Derksen and therefore thinks it is a shame that he has now also stopped doing it.

“John is a hero!”

Gerard thinks Today Inside is a great program, he says in the talk show of Beau van Erven Dorens. “Yes, I love it. I love it so much. Look, Wilfred is a kind of declarant and then they both dive in and then Johan sometimes goes a step too far. Yes, that makes me happy.”

He himself was a regular guest in VI. “Of course I have already been on their program ten times with either her a song or me sitting at the bar. It’s always a bit tacky and I was involved in that myself, but I definitely think he should come back, because I think he’s a hero if you dare to say and say so much.”

Humour

Host Beau van Erven Dorens, whose sister talk show Jinek is accused of being partly behind the VI exit, says: “It is democracy in the Netherlands. We can say anything we want and think anything and at some point you get this kind of excess.”

Gerard: “I think it’s humorous, I laugh about it, I love it.”

Beau: “And sometimes the humor goes just a little too far.”

small poll

Then Beau asks his audience who thinks Johan should return to the tube. Just over half of the people dare to raise their hand. “That is more than half. Just for you, Johan, when you’re watching at home: this was just a small poll from RTL colleagues.”

The VI riot was discussed with Beau, because columnist Yesim Candan was sitting at the table. Ferry Doedens’ best friend can’t get enough of shouting in every program how many threats she has received since she criticized the program.
