Johan Derksen confirms the rumor that Rob Kemps does not come up with the questions in his interview show The 10 Questions himself. “I was just being interviewed by Antoinnette Scheulderman!”
It is quite embarrassing for Rob Kemps: the presenter is currently on the channel with his own interview program, but it turns out that he does not interview his celebrity guests at all. According to Yvonne Coldeweijer, all his questions are whispered through his earpiece by Antoinnette Scheulderman. She denies it, but it seems to be true.
Rob’s prompter
After Patricia Paay, Rob’s next guest now stands up who shares that suspicion, namely Johan Derksen. He was stunned when he arrived on set. “I come there and there is Antoinnette Scheulderman, Rob Kemps’ prompter, who coaches him a bit. I already have some experience with her,” he says Coffee with John.
Antoinette co-wrote Johan’s book. “He then started interviewing me and that was done and then I thought: yes, but I have no appetite for this at all. Those were all those Boulevard-like questions like: when was the last time you cried? And: when did you say something nice to your wife?”
Overrated
As an interviewer, Antoinnette, a confidant of Linda de Mol, is really overrated, Johan believes. “She thinks she is one of the best interviewers in the Netherlands, but I think she doesn’t get any further than the Boulevard and Shownieuws level with her gibberish.”
Back to Rob. “So I sit down with that Rob Kemps in the Herman Brood museum in Zwolle, Scheulderman in the background, and all the questions she had asked me here for my book now came from Rob Kemps. So I was not interviewed by Rob Kemps, I was interviewed by Scheulderman!”
Broadcast ban
Johan has tried to enforce a broadcasting ban. “All those things I didn’t want to talk about again! Then I said: ‘I don’t want it to be broadcast, because I don’t want this at all.’ Then you get the posturing that that broadcast costs 60 thousand euros. (…) I didn’t mean to be annoying, but it was a very bad experience.”
It’s just embarrassing, says Johan. “If Rob Kemps is going to interview me, then I have a conversation with Rob Kemps and not with Scheulderman who is in the background. (…) I read that later somewhere that he had an earpiece in it, but in any case: the questions were simply composed by Scheulderman. It was the same sheet of questions she used back then.”
Not talented
What does that Antoinette actually have to do around Rob? That started when he came in for Ik Hou Van Holland, Johan knows. She was his coach there. “Antoinnette has never presented in her life, doesn’t know what it’s like to be in front of the camera and if she’s on a talk show, she won’t say anything that will keep a dog awake.”
Not really the right person to coach Rob, says Johan. He empathizes with Rob. “Rob Kemps is a nice boy, but he is not such a talented boy, because he can act crazy on stage, but the songs he sings on stage, his partner sings. He’s just playing.”
Unnatural
And he does not do this himself, says Johan. “Now he interviews someone while the questions are asked by someone else. That is a very unnatural way of interviewing. I wouldn’t want that and as a coach I wouldn’t want me to chew the questions. It can never work. You feel in those conversations that something is up.”
He concludes: “When we sit here talking, we have a normal conversation with normal chemistry, but everything came through an earpiece in or from someone else’s piece of paper. That’s horrible. Rob Kemps was always joking at weddings and parties and he finds the TV world very interesting, but he doesn’t realize that he is now burning himself off.”
