Joep (5) is unlucky of the day: broken arm and stolen bicycle

Joep (5) from Hoeven had a bad day on Sunday. During a romp on the bouncy castle, he landed wrong, breaking his arm and elbow. The family made a trip to the emergency room and GP, where Joep had to stay overnight and was operated on. Once he returned home in plaster, his bicycle had to be picked up, but it also disappeared like mustard after dinner. “Unlucky person of the day.”

What should have been a great day out at the Special Beer Festival in Hoeven turned out to be a bad day for the Koevoets family. “Joep was playing with grandpa on the bouncy castle, but ended up in the wrong place. He burst into tears,” says his father Berry.

“Four weeks in a cast.”

The family rushed to the emergency room and the GP post. “It turned out that he had a complex fracture in his upper arm and elbow. The bone had moved so the bone had to be put and Joep had to be operated on. He has been in a plaster cast for four weeks, not ideal with the heat.”

After a night in the hospital, Joep was operated on in the morning. The next surprise came like mustard after dinner, which is appropriate for the band his father is in, known for the carnival smash hit ‘Hé Jacqueline’.

“Nobody had seen the bike yet.”

“When we wanted to pick up his bike, it was gone. Joep is the unlucky person of the day. Nobody had seen the bike yet, so we reported the theft on Monday afternoon.”

Joep has now recovered from the shock, but the theft still keeps him busy. “It’s going well again, but if we had put my bike behind the bushes, nobody would have seen it.” Still, he doesn’t believe it was on purpose. “Maybe someone had the same bike as me that it happened by accident,” he wonders aloud.

In any case, he hopes that someone will find his orange bicycle with black letters and white and blue on it and that they will report. In this way, after four weeks in a plaster cast, he can cycle around again.
