Jochem Myjer jokes with Eva Jinek about the controversial Kruidvat stunt

Jochem Myjer made a joke about her controversial Kruidvat advertisement in Eva Jinek’s talk show yesterday. She laughed heartily at that. “People find that very complicated!”

Eva Jinek receives quite a bit of criticism because she has extensively advertised for the Kruidvat. Well-known colleagues such as Heleen van Royen and Wilfred Genee think that she has received a lot of money for this, but the presenter herself denies that. She says she has always wanted to work for Kruidvat and wanted to share that with everyone.

“Does that bother you?”

The Kruidvat riot was discussed for the first time yesterday in Eva’s own talk show, because the ever-disruptive cabaret artist Jochem Myjer was sitting at the table there. He was there to promote some self-written children’s book.

Eva: “You have sold 500,000 books and then there are people who say: ‘Yes, he only sold that because he is a well-known Dutchman.’ Does it bother you when people say that?”

‘Yes, bothers me’

Yes, answers Jochem. “Ehhh, yes, because one: I once submitted it not as being Jochem and I also got it back seven times that it was really dramatic, like: ‘Go do something else!’ But children are goddamn honest. If a child doesn’t like a book, they really won’t read it again, nor will they read part two or part three.”

He continues: “It has also been translated abroad and so on and nobody really knows Jochem Myjer there. But I think it’s a shame because I’m a storyteller on stage and I’m also a storyteller as a children’s book writer. So there is not much difference.”

Kruidvat job

Eva then starts to criticize the Dutch national character. “Maybe that’s a Dutch thing, I don’t know, to have trouble when someone does several things. Everyone wants you to be in a demarcated cubicle.”

Jochem jokingly: “So that you are both a presenter and work at Kruidvat.”

Eva bursts out laughing: “For example.”

Then: “People find that very complicated!”

Jochem: “Yes, they find that complicated!”

Eva: “Yes, that’s the point!”
