Job fair at Transpro for the transport sector in crisis

It is clear: for the transport sector, South West Flanders is a particularly difficult region to find suitable people. The jobs within the transport sector are often shortage professions and that is precisely why this fair here in Waregem is particularly interesting.

“I am currently following a course in logistics-operated transport at the VDAB”, says applicant Conny Vanneste. “And I’m going to listen to the companies about what jobs we can get within the sector.”

Louis Grulois is CEO of Remco Belgium: “I think there is a general problem in the labor market. This is certainly the case in our sector. It is especially difficult to find the right people. our sector is very specific and not easy to find.”

Impact of rising fuel prices

In addition, of course, there are also rising fuel prices. And they feel this immediately in the transport sector.

Bruno Velge of the Union of Professional Transporters and Logistics Entrepreneurs: “The transport sector par excellence, in view of the consumption of the truck, is feeling the rising petrol prices. But also and especially the delivery of material has been greatly delayed and much more expensive. Some already have four or five price increases since the beginning of last year and that has to be passed on.”
