Barcelona’s slump took a new turn on Sunday, when it bowed to its arch-nemesis Real Madrid with 1-3 goals.
Barcelona’s chairman felt the defeat strongly Joan Laporta, who marched to the referee’s booth at the Santiago Bernabéu after the game ended. According to the referee’s report, the club boss repeatedly demanded explanations from the referees for certain situations that happened in the match.
Trained as a lawyer, Laporta’s face may have been tight because of the restaurant episode that happened before the match, as a result of which his son Guillem Joan Laporta got arrested. According to the Marca newspaper, Laporta’s son got into such a heated argument with his wife that the manager of the restaurant called the police, who ended up arresting the man. However, the newspaper says that physical violence did not occur between the couple, even though the investigation of the events continued at the police station.
