Mbappé denies change request: “You know what to expect from PSG”

“We were stunned”

On Friday morning, the well-informed “L’Équipe” was certain: Kylian Mbappé (23) and his entourage are considering all options to get out of the contract, which was extended in May 2022, early. After Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 win in the top game against Olympique Marseille, things sounded very different. “I am very happy. I never asked about leaving in January,” Mbappé is now told by the “L’Equipequoted.

The news that the most valuable and highest-paid footballer in the world wanted to leave Paris was spread by RMC Sport and Marca before the 4th match day of the Champions League – other serious media and journalists confirmed this information. “I didn’t understand the information that came out on the day of the game against Benfica. I’m not involved in it,” Mbappé continued.

“I was shocked by the news, as was everyone else. People may think I’m involved, but I’m not. I was napping, my entourage was at my little brother Ethan’s game and we were stunned to hear about it. After that we had to deal with it, although there was a game to play. I just want to say that I’m very happy here,” Mbappé said after beating Marseille. While his 15-year-old brother Ethan Mbappé lost 3-2 to Benfica in the Youth League with PSG, Kylian played 1-1 on Tuesday night.

Mbappé: “If you play for PSG, then you know what you’re getting into”

Previously it was said, among other things, according to “Le Parisien” that the Frenchman felt betrayed by PSG. Before his extension, the club had made him a number of promises, most of which have not yet been fulfilled. “When you play for PSG you know what to expect. The good, the bad… everyone who comes here knows and we warn you. But we are only focused on winning games and titles.” He did not speak to club boss Nasser Al-Khelaïfi about the reports, he just wished him good luck before the top game – Mbappé prepared Neymar’s goal at the end of the first half.

The reason for the last rumored desire to turn your back on PSG as soon as possible was a report in the French online newspaper “Mediapart”, which is known for its disclosure stories. According to this, PSG had false accounts registered in social networks via so-called “troll armies” in order to counteract unruly expressions of opinion: media, people and even their own players such as Mbappé in particular were supposed to be discredited in this way – which the club unsurprisingly vehemently via “ RMC Sport” denied. An agency was never commissioned to do damage to their own ranks via those accounts and to “troll” the club’s professionals in a targeted manner. Mbappé didn’t go into that, but said: “If I overexert myself, I’ll get tired very quickly.” After all, he knew what to expect in Paris, where his contract runs until 2025.
