After a dramatic picture, Joachim Coens vervroegd zijn vertrek agrees. Maar met een nieuwe vorzitter alleen zal cd&v het redden, want de partij zit with big problems in their own struggles.

Coens bleef altijd voorzichtig, zowel inhoudelijk as qua stijl. Uitaindelijk mondde dat recent uit in een bijzonder meager restyling van cd&v. Toen al leken de dagen van Coens geteld as partijvoorzitter.
Misschien nog zijn most important nalatenschap voor cd&v is dat Coens er and 2020 – grotendeels op own houtje – voor koos om zijn voormale concurrent Mahdi de nieuwe federale regering in the loodsen, same with the known advocate Annelies Verlinden.
Opvolger
How would Coens now decide? All ogen zijn court op de jonge en popular Mahdi. Many other options are not possible.
