Harry Potter author JK Rowling says she is “happy” to go to jail for her transphobic views.

Rowling shared a picture on messaging service X (formerly Twitter) that read “Repeat after us: trans women are women,” to which she replied “No.”

To her share, Rowling received a response that refers to The Daily Mail to the news that Britain’s Labor Party could introduce a bill that would criminalize attacks on gender identity.

Rowling responded to the comment that she would be willing to go to jail.

– I will gladly sit in a castle for two years if the alternative is forced speech and denial of the reality and significance of gender. Take me to court, I say. It will be more fun than I’ve ever had on a red carpet, Rowling writes.

Rowling’s opinions regarding transactions have garnered criticism. The first time he addressed the issue was already in 2019, when he tweeted his support for a British researcher who lost his job after he wrote transphobic comments.

Later, Rowling clarified her position, justifying it as blurring the concept of gender is against women’s rights.

– I know and love trans people, but removing the concept of gender deprives many of the opportunity to meaningfully talk about their lives. Telling the truth is not hate, Rowling wrote in a tweet thread in June 2020.

Trans activists have been disappointed by Rowling’s statements. Since then, the star trio of the Harry Potter films Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have also publicly criticized Rowling’s comments and defended the trans community.

In August 2020, Rowling returned the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award she received. The award was given to Rowling in December 2019 for her dedicated work for children.

However, Rowling has never backed down from her statements. She has continued to speak loudly for women’s rights.

Last Sunday, Rowling attended a conference of the Filia feminist organization in Glasgow. The panel discussion discussed violence against women and discrimination around the world. Rowling’s appearance was not announced in advance, but Times– newspaper, he was given a standing ovation twice when he got on stage.
