Jimi Vain from Seinäjoki created a clothing collection for McDonald’s using old work clothes from the restaurant chain. In the press release, the clothing designer says that he was excited to join the fashion project.

The fashion designer who created the collection says that the project wanted to explore the possibilities of utilizing old work clothes and creating new styles from the materials used.

The clothing brand published a video of the collection’s fashion show on its Instagram account. If you don’t see the embed, you can view the post from here.

By creating new clothes from work uniform materials, McDonald’s and the VAIN brand want to remove the negative image associated with work uniforms.

What also makes the collection special is that the products are not going on sale. Clothes are distributed to McDonald’s employees through an internal raffle.

The winners of the raffle can wear the clothes of the collection if they wish in their free time. These clothes are not designed to be worn at work.

It is difficult to find positive things to say about the collection

With the help of the collection, we wanted to remove negative attitudes associated with work clothes. At least I can’t directly say that I have succeeded in this matter.

These clothes are not intended for wider distribution and that’s fine. As a fashion journalist, it is difficult for me to see any situation in which these clothes could be worn.

Of course, it’s great that the clothing collection was created by recycling old materials, but otherwise it’s difficult to find positive things to say about the collection.
