Jimi Hendrix had almost four years to formulate his vision: from 1966 until his shitty early and unnecessary death at the age of 27 on September 18, 1970 – and if you’re being honest, we’re talking about an even shorter period of time , namely the ridiculously short span of 20 months in which the Jimi Hendrix Experience released three albums, ARE YOU EXPERIENCED, AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE and ELECTRIC LADYLANDdreamed of being the only studio works by Hendrix that could be completed during his lifetime.
But the short time was enough to make Hendrix one of the immortals, the epitome of an entire youth who saw the counterculture as the only vehicle to get out of all the shit: Vietnam, unrest, discontent. Hendrix was supposed to be their savior, leading the children out of the mess with his sometimes beguiling, sometimes dehumanizingly screeching guitar.
