Actor Jim Carrey in a recent interview criticizes the Hollywood invertebrate that came to his attention during the Oscars. Carrey criticizes the fact that the audience stood in applause for Will Smith, who had risen to the best male lead Oscar. Just moments earlier, Smith had been slapped by a comedian Chris Rockia face on stage.

– I feel sick. I feel bad about the applause on my feet. Hollywood is one invertebrate mass and it really felt like we were no longer that cool group, Carrey notes in an interview with CBS channel Gayle King.

Carrey goes on to say that Smith should have been led out of the Oscars right after he beat Rock. While Rock didn’t want to take the matter forward, Carrey has his own interpretation of the matter. He stated in an interview that Rock just didn’t want to cause any more confusion.

Carrey adds that she would have taken action herself.

– That video is going to be online forever, it’s going to be everywhere. Those insults live a very long time. If you want to shout at your audience and show your contempt or shout on Twitter, that’s ok. But you don’t go on stage and munch on anyone just because he said something, Carrey clarifies and adds that Smith’s punch came completely unexpectedly.

– I wish him well. I have nothing against Will Smith. He has done great things but that was not a good time for him. It casts a shadow over the other star moments of the evening … It was selfish.

Smith apologized for his behavior already on the Oscars in his thanksgiving speech – though at the time he wasn’t showing his words to Rock. Smith later published his apology on Instagram.

– I’d like to apologize publicly, Chris. I acted irresponsibly and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions did not reflect the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in the world of love and kindness.
