Jihadist and far-right violence continues to pose the biggest terror threat in Europe

Last year, four terrorist attacks were committed in the European Union, in addition to eleven foiled and failed attacks. This is evident from the annual terror report Terrorism Situation and Trend Report (TE-SAT) that Europol published on Wednesday. As a result, the balance sheet in 2021 will be a lot lower than a year earlier. At that time, Europol counted 57 successful, unsuccessful and thwarted attacks. The European organization emphasizes this, however, that this should not detract from attention: terrorists who act alone and have ties with jihadists or the extreme right continue to pose the greatest threat.
