Jewelery was taken from Heunen in Beek in the night from Thursday to Friday after a burglary.
Burglars forced the roller shutter and front door and took jewelry from various display cases.
According to director Ralf Boesten, it seems that there were a total of four burglars. “From the camera images it appeared that there were two people inside. One was on watch outside and another was in the car.” The group has opened the roller shutter by means of a pump jack – normally used to lift cars. “They broke the glass of the front door with a big rock.”

The burglars left havoc inside the store. Almost all showcases have been opened. It is still unclear what exactly the people took with them. “We are still drawing up the balance sheet, we are looking at what we are missing. So we cannot say anything about the value yet,” says Boesten. “At least the fear is good.”

The store was well secured. The jeweler also has branches in other Limburg places. “We had a ram raid there twice before. Since then, security has been increased. But not good enough,” said Boesten. “They were well prepared.” Police are still investigating the robbery. “No one is recognizable on the camera images. They all wore black clothes.”
The store is closed due to the squat. Boesten thinks it will stay that way for a few more days. “There is still a lot of damage inside. I expect that we will be closed for another week. Until then, customers can come to another location.”
