Jeweler in Haarlem attacked, second time in one year

A jeweler in the Grote Houtstraat in Haarlem was robbed on Saturday afternoon. At the time of the robbery, a lot of shoppers were walking down the street. The robber threatened the staff with a stabbing weapon and took an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt.

The robbery took place around 2 p.m. in the center of Haarlem. The robber threatened several employees with a stabbing weapon and eventually made off with an undisclosed amount of money. It is unclear whether there were customers in the store at the time of the robbery or whether shoppers in the street were aware of the robbery.

A police spokesman says they are looking for a suspect of about 35 years old, 1.65 meters tall and with a tinted North African appearance. “The suspect ran away in the direction of Klein Heiligland. The police are still investigating there at the moment.”

Hammers

It is not the first time that the jeweler on the Grote Houtstraat has been the target of a robbery. April last year two men raided the store and took an unknown loot under threat of several hammers. Police have not said if there is a connection between the two robberies. “Last year’s robbery will undoubtedly be included in the ongoing investigation.”
