Jessie Diggins Gets Brutal On Track – ‘It Hurt So Much’

Diggins almost made it to the top of Alpe Cermis.

Jessie Diggins, who won the Tour de Ski overall, left everything on the final climb of Alpe Cermis.

Already burdened by small bumps, the American pushed his body to the limit, and it was quite a sight. The skier seemed to be advancing on the track right on the borderlands of consciousness.

– It hurt so much. I could barely breathe,” Diggins said for Aftonbladet.

– However, it’s over now. I’m already looking forward to getting some rest.

Diggins hobbled across the finish line in sixth. That was enough, because the nearest threat Heidi Weng was able to close the gap in the overall situation to only 31 seconds.

The Yankee star had a hard time even before the last two stages, when he fell on Thursday in the race in Davos and injured his hip.

Diggins said he was in bad pain, but both he and the trainer Jason Cork they knew that the woman would arrive in Val di Fiemme regardless.

– Jessie is really persistent. He’s used to racing with ailments, so I don’t think this will cause any problems, Cork stated at the time.

At the finish, Diggins finally got to whistle. Jussi Saarinen
