GL leader Jesse Klaver will not be number 1 in the list to be jointly formed with the PvdA in the coming elections.
He takes a step aside and leaves the party leader to someone else, Klaver said in the AD. “I hope my step gives voters confidence that we are truly willing to put aside our personal ambitions for something bigger.”
“If you start a new combination, it must also be led by someone new,” says Klaver in conversation with the newspaper. It does not seem wise to him if he takes that position. “For me, the cooperation between GroenLinks and PvdA symbolizes that politicians can finally step over their own interests for once. Holding on to your party political interests has long held back progress,” he says.
But Klaver will continue, he says, “if the party wants it.” He makes himself available for the electoral list “to make the combination GroenLinks-PvdA a success.”
