Carolina Hurricanes Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been fined $5,000 for elbowingwhose victim was a Dallas defender Joel Hanley.
This is the maximum amount of the collective agreement that will be invested in the players’ emergency fund. The Finn Earns 4.5 million dollars this season.
Kotkaniemi’s meadow was seen last Saturday at Carolina’s home field. The attacker did not receive a penalty for his tackle in the match itself.
Kotkaniemi has played 58 matches this season with powers of 10+10=20.
Luukkonen is on fire
Carolina and Kotkaniemi’s games continued last night, when the team met Buffalo on the away field. The Finn was left without any points as the hosts earned a 3-2 penalty shootout victory.
In Buffalo’s goal Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 30 saves in the game and stopped all of Carolina’s rush attempts. The Finn was chosen as the three star of the game.
Luukkonen has started his team with a goal in the last 16 matches already 14 times. In that span, his save percentage is 93.6. No other NHL goaltender with more than five games has a better save percentage over the same period.
Out of the Finns, only the Hurricanes were able to score points in the match Teuvo Teräväinenwhich initially by Martin Necas hit in the 54th minute of the match.

Leading the NHL’s point exchange Nikita Kucherov broke the 100 regular season point mark last night. The Russian scored 1+3 when Tampa Bay beat New Jersey 4–1.
Kucherov has now collected a whopping 102 points (38+64) in 59 matches. At the same time, he became the Fifth active player with at least four 100-point seasons.
Starting from the 2013–14 season only Connor McDavid (622 matches/939 points) has hit more points than Kucherov (703 matches/831 points).
