Jesper de Jong and Gijs Brouwer have reached the second round of the Wimbledon qualifications. The 23-year-old De Jong won in two sets against the Taiwanese Hsu Yu-hsiou: 6-3 6-2. Last year he failed in the first qualifying round of the British Grand Slam tournament. The 27-year-old Brouwer waltzed 6-3, 6-1 over the Briton Luca Pow.
For Jelle Sels, the curtain fell in the first round. He lost to the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild: 4-6, 4-6. The South American, the global number 130, caused a sensation at Roland Garros by eliminating the Russian Daniil Medvedev in the opening round.

For Bibiane Schoofs, the Wimbledon adventure is already over. The 35-year-old Dutch lost no chance against the Chinese Yue Yuan during the qualifying tournament. In the second game, Schoofs even failed to take a game (6-2, 6-0).
Three other Dutch women also try to reach the main tournament from today. Arantxa Rus is seeded second in the qualifying tournament. She will face the Ukrainian Darija Snihoer in the first round. Arianne Hartono and Lesley Pattinama-Kerkhove also participate in the preliminary rounds. Hartono will compete against Belgian Yanina Wickmayer and Pattinama-Kerkhove against American Kayla Day. Pattinama-Kerkhove reached the second round of the main draw last year.
Three victories are enough for a place in the main schedule. The preliminary rounds are played at Roehampton to save Wimbledon grass for the main draw matches. The main draw of Wimbledon starts in a week.
