Talking Heads guitarist Jerry Harrison and longtime touring guitarist Adrian Belew are touring next year to perform songs from “Remain In Light” (1980). The musicians are complemented by a nine-piece band with former members of Turkuaz.
Harrison and Belew have already pitched in at the Peach Music Festival in Scranton in the summer of 2021 to test the concept. There was also a “Remain In Light” show in Los Angeles recently.
“‘Remain In Light’ is a highlight of my career,” says Harrison. “Adrian and I often spoke about the magic of the 1980 tour and the joy it brought to the audience. It’s great to see that audience delight again on the current tour.”
A pleasure for the fans – nothing more and nothing less
Belew added the tour would be “a joyous show of Talking Heads songs you know and love, performed by a strong 11-piece cast that includes Jerry and myself. The filigree guitarist is certain: “You can’t help but dance and go home with a happy smile.”
The tour begins February 16th in Denver and runs through March 11th in New Haven. Gigs in Europe are not planned.
“Remain In Light”, produced by Brian Eno, is considered one of the highlights of the Talking Heads’ work with its complex sound design between electro elements and afro beat and is regularly voted into the lists of the best albums of all time. The Talking Heads officially disbanded in 1991, but have only played together again since – as part of the induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Singer David Byrne has repeatedly rejected a reunion.
