Neither the mother nor the footballer come to the process. You let lawyers do the talking. If the model were still alive, the footballer would have to prove that everything he said bad about her at the time is true.

But the model is dead. In post-mortem personality rights, the mother must now prove that her daughter was very different from what was claimed. According to the judge, only serious violations of human dignity that really distort a person’s image of life violate personal rights even after death.

With Boateng’s statements about “her lies”, “fake social media accounts”, “alcohol problems” that seems to be the case, says the judge: “This picture drawn by him devalues the woman as a whole. But it is only distortion if it deviates massively from the facts.”

The footballer’s lawyer: “He doesn’t want a fight with the family. We have repeatedly expressed regret and no interest in repeating statements made. We suggest a face-to-face meeting.”

The mother’s lawyer: “I’m happy to pass it on, but the mother expects a public apology for what was said.” The footballer’s lawyer: “We’re hearing that here for the first time!” The judges will only announce a decision in seven weeks.
