Jérôme Boateng scores a point on his Salernitana debut

Former world champion Jérôme Boateng started with partial success at his new club US Salernitana. The 76-time Germany international fought to a 0-0 draw at Torino FC on his Serie A debut with the bottom team.

Boateng played for a good hour before being substituted. For Salernitana it was the first point after four previous defeats. With 13 points, the club remains bottom of the table in Italy’s elite league.

Boateng became world champion with Germany at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He won the Champions League twice with FC Bayern. He last played in France for Olympique Lyon, but had been without a club for around six months.

In the meantime there had also been talks about a return to Bayern.
