Jeroen van der Boom wins The Masked Singer: ‘No viewing record’

Jeroen van der Boom has won the final of The Masked Singer in front of more than two million viewers. Unfortunately, the program does not manage to achieve a viewing figure record.

The grand finale of The Masked Singer, in which Jeroen van der Boom came out of the tiger suit, attracted almost 2.2 million viewers (41 percent market share) on RTL 4 last night. The most watched alternatives were NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur with 599 thousand viewers ( 11 percent) and NPO 1’s Op Search Naar with 500 thousand viewers (10 percent).

‘a bit disappointing’

Tina Nijkamp thinks that The Masked Singer closes with good numbers, but she is not really overwhelmed. “The linear figures are a bit disappointing for the grand finale. For example, the first episode of this season was better viewed and this finale is also not the best viewed finale. That remains season two when Jan Dulles won.”

Back then, almost 3.9 million people watched linearly. “Last year with winner Jamai 2.5 million and the first season with Tania Kross 1.9 million. But all-in-all it was again a great success and the program even turned out to be able to score against the Netherlands – Argentina,” she writes on her ratings juice channel.

Looking For Viewers

The NPO 1 show Op Search To seems to be looking harder for viewers than for musical talent. The second episode therefore did not exceed half a million viewers and that on the largest TV channel in the Netherlands.

Tina: “Very dramatic figures, especially since this program is still in the schedule for many weeks. And this talent show that has been broadcast on and off since 2007 scores the lowest figures ever. It started dramatically last week with a linear 631 thousand viewers. These figures are far too low for prime time NPO 1.”

on top?

Will Looking For come out on top? “The only hope for Opzoek Naar is that it will face Chantal’s Pyama Party next week. That will probably score a maximum of 1.2 million viewers,” says Tina.

She continues: “For Wendy van Dijk and Britt Dekker, who will start Ministars next week, the 500,000 viewers for Op Search In any case mean that nothing stands in the way of competition in order to score well. I am very curious.”
