Jeroen Pauw will intervene in the worst-watched talk show in the Netherlands: HLF8. According to him, the ailing program must ‘professionalize’, reports presenter Hélène Hendriks.
It’s been a failure since its premiere episode: HLF8. The program actually only scored well if Johnny de Mol had something to confess. Now the show is presented by Hélène Hendriks and Leonie ter Braak. They do their best, but HLF8 remains the diazepam of the TV programs: you fall asleep within five minutes.
Professionalize
Hélène herself also realizes that things are not going well. She talked about it yesterday at the table at Today Inside. “I really enjoy doing it, yes. However, it is intended that a step is also taken. That they will professionalize a little further.”
René van der Gijp is confused: “Couldn’t you have done that better from the start?! hahahahaha. But what is professionalization?”
Hélène then puts a huge TV cliché on the table: “Yes, but you are saying this now, but De Wereld Draait Door didn’t go well either, did it, in the beginning?”
Peacock intervenes
Johan Derksen jokingly: “Hélène, would it be nice for a column that I drop by with anecdotes?”
Back to ‘professionalising’: what does that mean? That HLF8 is currently some sort of amateur theater? Hélène: “By professionalising, I mean that they will introduce a little more structure in the broadcast. (…) You get different sections, so that there is a little more certainty.”
Where does this emergency grip come from? Who invented this? “Jeroen Peacock. That is the production house.”
Wilfred Genee doesn’t really believe in it. “It’s all that TV language: ‘We’re going to structure it!’ Guys…”
Johnny back?
Although HLF8 scores sadly poorly, the program may continue with a second season after the summer. “The details are not yet known. It is not yet known who will present it, because it is of course just a program from Johnny. Maybe Johnny will be back in September.”
Well, don’t count on it. That will just be Hélène again. “It’s going to be a few conversations, because look, it won’t be a secret that my heart is in the sport,” she says. “I will never give up on that. Maybe a combination.”
“Much more fun now!”
Fellow studio guest Roxane Knetemann, a cyclist, then throws a sneer at Johnny. “By the way, since you did it, I find it an interesting program and before that I actually found it a little less interesting to watch.”
Does she like Hélène better than Johnny? “Sorry….”
