Jerke Setz from Assen has been nominated as the new chairman of Perspectief, the national youth organization of the Christian Union.
Next week is the congress where he will most likely be elected. Setz is the only candidate and is already secretary of the youth association. He is also a councilor in Assen. He succeeds Nathánaël Post, who left in the meantime.
“There are many differences of opinion within Perspectief, that is normal for a political youth association,” says Setz in the Radio Drenthe program Cassata. “The previous chairman was very concerned about this. I think that differences of opinion are part of it and that it is a reason to discuss more with each other. I also grew up with five boys, which also helps to grow a thicker skin. .”
According to Setz, Perspectief, with 1,100 members, certainly has something to offer in The Hague. “We are present at every faction meeting as standard, we prepare them and we also provide input. You are also close to the minister.” The youth association also receives money from the government to organize all kinds of political activities. “Then you are talking about about a hundred thousand,” says Setz.
Perspective has three spearheads. “A green future, so passing on the earth to our children in a good way. A fair policy and humanity. For example, eliminating homelessness in the Netherlands. Everyone should be able to participate and a roof over your head is the absolute minimum,” says Setz .
