Jeremie Vaneeckhout candidate chairman of Green in duo

Meyrem Almaci has announced that she will step down as chairwoman, candidate duos to succeed her and Dany Neudt have until five o’clock tomorrow afternoon. On Wednesday, the party will announce who the duos are running for the presidency. “We are thus moving away from the traditional subdivision between chairman and vice-chairman, the model that Groen uses to this day,” says Vaneeckhout. “We are following the successful model of Die Grünen in Germany and Ecolo in our country: two co-chairs, who together take the leadership of the Green Party. This also gives us the opportunity, as a complementary duo, to increase the diversity at the top at the top. To strengthen green, and to give more color to politics in general.”

Vice President

Vaneeckhout was already vice-chairman from 2014 to 2019, then in duo with Myerem Almaci. He was also alderman in Anzegem for the local party Inzet, but he gave up that to focus entirely on his seat in the Flemish Parliament. There he sits on the agriculture and youth committees.

This weekend it was announced that Wouter De Vriendt from Ostend is not a candidate: he wants to focus on his job as group leader for the green parties in the House in the coming period. The presidential elections at Groen are on 11 June.
